Avatar Preview (IMAX)

HIS:
First off, this is not a review. I was fortunate enough to see twenty minutes of footage in 3D-IMAX presentation.
My thoughts: As soon as James Cameron appeared onscreen larger and more realistic than I ever needed him to be, I realized we’re possibly witnessing another giant leap in cinema history. (Had I not thought that,I’m sure Cameron will tell us all a thousand times over). He’d be right. Never before have I been so in awe at moving images in a cinema. It was like being on some sort of ride, or maybe even inside of a video game.
Ok,these aren’t necessarily the best attributes for a movie and I certainly have concerns about the main characters(Na’vi),eerily similar to Jar-Jar Binks (uh-oh). Likewise the very plot (from what I could muster) doesn’t particularly grab me as to my tastes but anyone, and I mean anyone with a passing interest in the cinema needs to witness the next Darwinian leap made by Cameron and co here.
The sights of such spectacles as a forest bursting with colourful, botanical wonders are jaw-dropping. Perhaps even more so a scene simply involving Stephen Lang in a recruitment hall of sorts. Every pore on the actors face can almost be felt.
Most importantly regarding the visuals is that gone are the awkward backgrounds 3-D usually presents us with. By which I mean the whole environment around the central action is completely tangible and also multi-dimensional.
You really have to see if to believe it and while I have reservations regarding the story, the acting and more worryingly the Na’vi, I’ll definitely be standing in line on opening day to fill in the blanks!!!
HER:
Just 16 minutes is all we got. A few peeks into this new film due out in theatres December 18. First walking in we were given extremely big “Buddy Holly” glasses unlike any others for 3-D before. Then it began, and what an exciting 16 minutes it was.
Avatar is going to be the first full feature film of James Cameron since Titanic. He and his team are bringing a new form of 3-D to the big screen. The colors and technologically advanced cinematography were amazing even though I was a bit skeptical of the storyline. The film completely pops off the screen and if feels as if you are surrounded by the action within the film. Also the CGI characters ( I wouldn’t even know what to call this new technology) are incredibly done. The facial expressions extend out to the audience allowing a connection of sorts, and the action made me sit on the edge of my seat due to the force of it. Although I’m not too sure about Sam Worthington, as his voice paired up with his Big Blue Body threw me off, this film is just worth seeing for the pure originality of it.
I do have to say that after this sneak peek I saw the trailer for Avatar on a non-3-D screen and it didnt even come close to what I had just seen on the Imax screen
So I must say bear with the trailers and wait to see it in the theatre – you won’t be disappointed with the effects!

[...] to a heightened anticipation of the film Avatar. I was fortunate enough a few months ago, to see a 20 minute sneak peak of this and it definitely peaked my interest. Of course, seeing something with a new 3-D technology [...]
